This piece analyses the refined tin output of major producers during 2018 and looks at regional production trends. Some provisional estimates for refined tin production in 2019 are also presented, along with a brief analysis of secondary refined tin production. Global production fell by just under 2 last year and is expected to decline at a similar rate in 2019. The majority of the data was reported directly to the International Tin Association, with augmentation using published information and estimates based on trade data. The key points are: ? Of the top 10 refined tin producers surveyed, four companies saw an increase in production in 2018, including three of the biggest five companies. ? Primary refined tin production in 2018 was affected by a reduction in ore supplies from Myanmar, as well as exportation issues in Indonesia. ? Secondary refined tin production fell by 15 in 2018 to some 51,300 tonnes. Secondary production declined in most countries, with the exceptions of China and Poland. The global share of secondary refined tin output fell to 14, the lowest since 2006.
