A twin linearhyphen;array coupledhyphen;cavity AlxGa1minus;xAshyphen;GaAs quantumhyphen;well heterostructure laser, a stripehyphen;geometry coupled twohyphen;dimensional array, is described that, unlike the usual stripe laser, exhibits mode switching and multiple switching (ONndash;OFF twice) in the light power (L) versus current (I) characteristics (Lhyphen;I) with increasing current.
