Progress and challenges towards reducing spot blotch disease of wheat.

摘要

This paper describes the symptoms, economic importance, distribution in India (Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Praddesh, Orissa, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka), epidemiology and management (cultural, biological and chemical control, and cultivar resistance) of spot blotch of wheat. The cultural, morphological, pathological and molecular variations among the strains of the causal agent (Bipolaris sorokiniana [Cochliobolus sativus]), and toxin production in the pathogen are briefly covered.
