This paper covers the aetiology, epidemiology (source of inoculum, conditions for disease development, and survival in soil, plant debris, and alternative hosts) and management (cultural, chemical and biological control) of R. solanacearum. The distribution of R. solanacearum in India (Kerala, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Orissa, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands) and damage incurred by the pathogen on potato are described.
