The Japan Gas Association was designated in 1998 to carry out a six-year plan for developing "Intelligent Horizontal Directional Drilling Technique (IHDD)". This technology aims at that polyethylene (PE) pipes are efficiently newly laid, which is excellent in earthquake resistance and corrosion resistance. We introduce the technical details concerned to the real time image processing algorithm for radar system which is mounted in the jacking drill head of IHDD. In this paper, we in introduce the examples as follows. · Analyzing the piping way (crossing or parallel to the jacking drill head) · Analyzing the azimuth of pipe.
