Haunted by the wild wood wraith

IF YOU LIVE in Scotland, you have a wildlife-watching opportunity to turn the rest of us green with envy. An animal that vanished from most of Britain years ago is once again becoming a familiar sight north of the border - and there's a growing trendat cottages and hides across the Highlands to tempt it to pay a visit. We joined a family at a downstairs window on the outskirts of Inverness to see this creature for ourselves. Excited whispers greeted the agile, cat-like form that appeared silently on top of the garden wall and sniffed the air. It was a female pine marten, so light-footed she seemed to glide along and down the wall, her thick tail held out straight behind as she made her way to the nuts and raisins that were scattered on the lawn.
