Electromagnetic tomography could not be applied for a crack survey in a sedimentary rock because mudstone has a different electromagnetic properties comparing with a crystalline rock. This paper shows the relationship between water content, frequency and dielectric constant of sandstone and mudstone as the result of laboratory test. From the results of the numerical case study based on the relationship, it could be concluded that the dispersion ratio of electromagnetic velocity was lager in the distribution of mudstone than of sandstone. This result can use for the interpretation of distribution of mudatone and crack in a sedimentary rock by electromagnetic tomography.
