Cercosporaleaf spot on Rhododendron (Cercospora handeliiBubak)

A fungal disease onRhododendron, not previously recorded in New Zealand was found in New Plymouth and Palmerston North. The fungus was identified asCercospora handeliiBubak It causes darkbrown angular spots on both sides of the leaves. The lower foliage of young stock is most susceptible. Control of the disease is discussed.
