We have performed a theoretical study of the effect of a uniform magnetic field on electron states localized near the surface of an ellipsoidal germanium nanoparticle by electrostatic image forces in a vacuum. We study the effects of resonance interaction of optical radiation with such local electron states both in the presence, and in the absence, of a uniform magnetic field. The results obtained may be used to develop new optical and magneto-optical techniques for diagnosis of nanostructures. (C) 2016 Optical Society of America.
