12.11.13, California US-built 8.4-litre V10 supercar gets a sharper edge for track-day use. LESS THAN A year after the standard SRT Viper appeared, the first special edition has arrived. In keeping with the car's racing success, this new variant is a track-day special. TA stands for 'time attack', referring to the qualifying-style competitions popular among US racing sanctions. The configuration of this supercar is unchanged. The 8.4-litre V10 makes the same 640bhp and 600lb ft as the standard car and the ratios for the short-throw six-speed manual gearbox are the same as before. The devil is in the detail. The suspension has been reworked, with spring rates up 20 per cent, 30 per cent stiffer stabiliser bars and revised electronically adjustable Bilstein dampers which have just Sport and Race settings. There's no Street mode. SRT also fits the lightest available OE alloys and wraps them in Pirelli P Zero Corsas. Brakes are uprated, too.
