TCIA's storm busters.While many things need to be done to prepare for storm work, joining TCIA's Storm Network, set up 15 years ago to help members coordinate efforts and provide each other backup in the wake of severe storms, is near the top of the list for many. That is because the sooner workers can get trees off downed electric lines, residential streets and roofs, the better for everyone. And often, more workers and equipment are needed than are available locally.Currently, the Storm Network has about 300 members listed by state on TCIA's website. Those listed have provided information as to what crews and equipment they can have available and any special equipment they have access to, such as a crane.
