AbstractOn logs of Norway spruce, discarded and left lying after thinning because of severe decay byFomes annosus, numerous sporocarps ofF. annosusdevelop after one to two years. The surface area, position, number, and time of appearance of the fruiting bodies varied between two test areas. Removal of rotted logs is recommended as a prophylactic method ofFomescontrol inPicea abiesstands.
