Students to pen new Fiats: Fiat tasks RCA design students with creating concepts for next Panda and 500

Fiat has launched a two-month competition involving 60 postgraduate students of vehicle design at the Royal College of Art, aimed at producing "innovative, out-of-the-box" concepts for 2020 versions of its two best-selling cars, the Panda and the 500. Working in groups of four with seven teams deployed on each car, students will create exterior and interior concepts for the cars by using and developing the models' brand values and product identities, while anticipating trends and customer expectations in seven years' time. Fiat's design chiefs say they want "fresh and unexpected" designs, but will expect concepts to be practical and workable.
