The greatest car on earth has recently been unveiled, and obviously it's a Mercedes-Benz S-class. Heads of industry and the glitterati will be beside themselves with joy, but for the rest of us it simply means that the old ones will be a bit cheaper. But which should we buy? Mercedes had a difficult mid to late 1990s, when there was a discernible blip in build quality. The S-class may have been better built than the C-class, but there can still be issues with electrics, air suspension and paintwork, which may explain why I love the really old stuff.
