GENERAL MOTORS plans to start dynamic testing of the Chevrolet Volt this month, before it goes on sale in 2010. According to the Volt's project leader, Frank Weber, it has become GM's number one engineering project and is undergoing a hugely accelerated development programme in a bid to make it the world's first mass-produced, plug-in electric car, with a price tag of around ￡20,000.
