"Really sorted, very robust." It's a comment you might expect to hear about a Mercedes or a BMW, not a Maserati. But that's how Mathew Sage, managing director and senior technician at Maserati specialist Giallo (01732 835692), views the GranTurismo. He says the usual Maserati reputation for being unreliable doesn't apply to the big Italian coupe. That's great news if you're in the market for an exotic GT, because the GranTurismo is becoming increasingly affordable to buy. Now five years old, the earliest cars are available for around ￡35,000; that's a lot of beautifully styled Pininfarina coupe for the money. Sage admits they're good value too, although he does add the proviso that, as an ￡80,000 car new, it comes with running costs to match.
