FOR ANY OTHER manufacturer, the reputation of a car like the Cayman would probably have been a trip hazard when it came time to renew. And especially so when the successor is forced to shoulder extra burdens like a size increase and troublesome new components such as electromechanical power steering. One would like to think that even Porsche, the master of engineering into the margins, baulked a little at the idea of building an all-new replacement for its mid-engined magnum opus. Well, if it did, it doesn't show.
