Hottest hatch blows cold - Our Megane flew at Goodwood, but now it's giving us chilblains

I TOOK the Megane R26 to Goodwood recently - not to take part in the 'how much fun for ￡15,000' story in last week's issue, but merely to get me there. And the longer it sat in the car park, waiting, the more obvious it became that at some stage during the day I'd have to do a timed lap in it, just to see how much quicker it would be than everything else. When the time came we were almost out of time altogether, but the chief marshal kindly agreed to let me do one flying lap. So off I went, with several thoughts rattling around inside my crash helmet.
