Cut to the chase: I'm glad and rather excited that Ford has decided to focus on selling Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata Motors of India. I appreciate there are more uncertainties attached to the deal than there would be if the twin British premium marquees were going to Volkswagen or Toyota, but it still strikes me that a sell-off to a well founded buyer from the New World could be a far-sighted move, with all the potential for renewal it promises.
