Ford's Ka design gets even more unusual and interesting when you jump inside, says Matt Saunders. It even has Batman's ears... Two distinct sensations strike you when you get into the new Ford Ka for the first time. First, a hit of familiarity, which comes as you accustom yourself to the high seating position and basic cabin layout. You'll recognise both if you've ever sat in a Fiat Panda or 500. The second impression gradually overwhelms the first, though, as you study the multi-faceted dashboard and waterfall-like centre console. It's a slower-percolating but powerful sense of approval of the thoroughness with which Ford has redesigned and re-engineered the buttons, dials, surfaces, plastics and trims to suit this intriguing little car.
