Mazda CX-3 Skyactiv-G: Newcastle Front-drive petrol model is tipped to be the best-selling CX-3 and is now in the UK

The CX-3 is hugely important for Mazda. It enters a class brimming with contenders, but many of them are comparatively average, so a healthy slice of the market is there for the taking should the price be right. The list of rivals is long, including everything from Citroen's C4 Cactus to Nissan's Juke, via the Renault Captur and Suzuki's new Vitara. We've already driven diesel and petrol versions of the CX-3 abroad. Here, we're trying it in the UK and in 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol form. The frugal 1.5-litre diesel has running costs on its side, but this two-wheel-drive petrol version is the cheapest CX-3 and is the predicted best seller.
