China behind rise in global aluminium production

Global aluminium production rose last month as China increased output to the highest level in three months, data from the International Aluminium Institute show. Global production increased by 2.4pc on the month to 5.15mn t in May, and was up by 3.5pc on the year. China was primarily responsible for the growth in production, with the country’s output increasing by 2.1pc on the month to 2.83mn t.
