TCP Vegas version is expected to achieve higher throughput than TCP Tahoe and Reno versions, which are currently used in the Internet. However, we have revealed that when the traditional TCP Reno connections and TCP Vegas connections co-exists in the network, the throughput of TCP Vegas connections degrades significantly. In this paper, we propose TCP Vegas+, which improves the congestion control algorithms of TCP Vegas, so that it can avoid such unfairness property between TCP Reno and TCP Vegas. TCP Vegas+ judges whether the competing TCP Reno connections exist in the network. and changes its behavior to increase its window size moderately/aggressively. We show the effectiveness of our TCP Vegas+ through some simulation experiments.
