On a gull wing and a prayer: SLS AMG Black Series is the most focused road-going Mercedes-Benz yet, but is it too much of a good thing?

A while before dawn in a freezing Wye Valley. As the back of the transporter is lowered, the white and black Mercedes SLS is revealed. The delivery driver plips its locks and its lights spark and glow. Even here in the confines of the truck it looks angry, a red-eyed demon woken in its cave. Time is short and even if it were not, I'd drive fast. This is my patch and I know I've not long before the morning traffic starts to build. I have perhaps an hour to myself in the Welsh borders to make friends with this thing before our trip north.
