Lack of Correlation between Senescence and Stomatal Aperture inLemna gibbaG3

Stomata on the frond ofLemna gibbaG3 were found to be non-functional; they remain open regardless of treatments that lead to either promotion or inhibition of frond senescence. These findings are not in accordance with the notion that leaf senescence is primarily mediated through the stomatal behavior.
