2500 Our McLaren proves its mettle as a supercar to be enjoyed every day. The memory of a 550-mile weekend in the 12C is still resounding in my head. One great thing happened that overshadows all the details: it felt at last like a versatile and familiar fast car, a sort of ultra-glorified Golf GTI. The episode started with a Cotswolds trip home from London (95 miles), then a bit of early evening exercise on local roads (90 miles) and a return dash to the Midlands (140 miles). Then, early on Sunday, I embarked on a boomerang-shaped journey back to London via Goodwood's Supercar Sunday (120 miles plus another 70) and was back in The Smoke as the sun was setting.
