CAST YOUR MIND back 15 months. A fantastic-looking performance coupe tears onto the pages of this magazine and makes its mark by drubbing a BMW 125i in a comparison. Less powerful front-drive coupe beats more powerful rear-driver, and in Autocar. That was a test to remember. It was also our first clue that VWs new Scirocco would be something very special. And sure enough, the aforementioned debutant went on to record a more-than-respectable showing at our annual handling day test, an impressive four and a half stars in the road test and was named among our top 10 new cars of 2008.
