Our Freelander's orchestra of warning chimes now has unwanted accompaniment from the optional sunroof. I'VE JUST BEEN driving our long-term Freelander while on holiday in Wales. It was a great week and our trusty Land Rover carried people and baggage along motorways, country roads, twisting lanes and farm tracks with aplomb. That doesn't mean the Freelander is without fault, though. One of the things that has concerned me recently is the unusually high level of noise at motorway speeds. Part of this is due to the Goodyear tyres, which have a multi-purpose tread pattern with a much more aggressive shoulder than a standard road tyre. But on hols I ended up on some marble-smooth roads north of Cardiff, and only then did I realise that the main source of the racket is actually the sunroof.
