Final report Like any Mini, the Countryman has proved that it can charm and frustrate in equal measure. But there's no denying that it works. Back in December 2009, when we got our first glimpse of the Mini Beachcomber concept we weren't really sure what kind of production car it would produce. To tell the truth, when the Countryman arrived nine months later, we still weren't really sure what it was. A year on and we've got to grips with the concept, but the maxi Mini still doesn't look or feel like any other car on the market. With one exception. There's a passing resemblance to the Skoda Yeti, in terms of size, packaging, drivetrain options and general usefulness. If you ignore the Mini's more glamorous cabin and ultra-high spec, there's quite a lot that brings these cars together.
