FOR GENERAL MOTORS' European arm, 2009 should have been a landmarkyear. The all-new Insignia would be rolled out to grand acclaim, with a new Astra to follow closely. Instead, the world car market has been torpedoed by what's probably the first synchronised global recession. Instead of launching the Insignia on the crest of a wave, it's arrived in the middle of the biggest global slump for at least 25 years.
