The thrills have come thick and fast during our six months with Renaultsport's hardcore hot hatch. So have they justified the inevitable compromises? The Trophy's exit from the Autocar stable provoked a long-bottled discussion on the road test desk about its merits. Of course everyone loves it; the car's dynamic prowess seems to have been with us for so long that its reputation is set in stone and sealed in concrete, as if it were an automotive Bruce Springsteen. But, as is often the way, not everyone would buy it.
