Bentley's V8 engine is 50 years old. Does it have a future, especially with a new Arnage on the cards? Andrew Frankel finds out

Regrettably, there is no Bentley museum at the company's Crewe headquarters. But if you want a tour through the firm's last half-century of history, all you need is a new Arnage. Under the bonnet you'll find an all-aluminium V8 that doesn't differ greatly from the one introduced in the Bentley S2 50 years ago. Peer into the Arnage's superstructure and you'll find load paths, wheel positions and even a wheelbase closely related to that of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-series of the 1960s and 1970s.
