Not until I'm six feet under and at one with the minerals in the ground will I forget what happened during the two days when we road tested the McLaren F1. It was in May 1994, just 24 hours after Ayrton Senna had been killed at Imola, so understandably the mood was rather sombre. The good people from McLaren still had a huge soft spot for Senna, as did anyone with petrol in their veins at the time.
