Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common disease entity affecting the majority of aged men. Although the traditional means of treatment used to be surgical removal of the obstructing tissue, new forms of treatment have been instituted. Further studies are required to determine the effectiveness of minimally invasive techniques and pharmacologic therapy.
