摘要

Silicon carbide whiskers have been attracting attention as a reinforcing materialfor use in plastics,metals andceramics,because they are fine in structure and have a mechanical strength close to theoretical.Inherent with their chemically pure nature and highly ordered structure are strengths that begin to approach interatomic bonding forces.Compared to polycrystalline fibers,they also offer imporved resistance to high temperature environments and display greater work-to-fracture.Therefore,many studies on the formation of SiC whiskers have been performed1-4.
