For assessing the quality, effectiveness and impact of the training programmes among different categories of trainees, the data were generated in 14 batches constituting 240 trainees over a period of 3 years. The trainees were post - classified into different categories (40 trainees in each category) based on education level and experience in sericulture. Trainers evaluated the knowledge improvement and efficiency of the trainees by pre and post-training evaluation tests. The maximum percentage of marks (81.40 %) during pre-test was scored by sericulture post-graduates with 10-15 years of field experience. But in the post-test, maximum score (94.5 %) was obtained by science postgraduates with 10-15 years experience. New trainees in sericulture fieldwere exposed to practical training programme and they acquired more knowledge and improvement was recorded. Trainees also got a chance to evaluate the training programme and the training management indices such as training efficiency, training utility and training facility were calculated. In this assessment, the science graduates without experience (C5) scored maximum (95.30) training efficiency index. The trainees belonging to the category of post - graduates in sericulture without experience scoredmaximum (93.20) training utility index. Science post-graduates without field experience expressed maximum score for further requirement of training in mulberry cultivation and silkworm rearing. The results showed that newly recruited candidates opted maximum needs in different disciplines of sericulture, even though they studied sericulture during their post- graduate course.
