There are now seven weeks to prepare for the CDM regulations which come into force on 31 March 1995. The Health and Safety Executive has said it will not apply the regulations stringently at first. It recognises that everyone, itself included, needs to learn how the regulations can best work in practice. It is, nevertheless, important for architects to understand what the regulations will require of them. They should be considering whether they wish to take on the new role of planning supervisor. It should be noted that any reference to a 'person' in the regulations includes a part-nership and/or a company.
