The ground state and superdeformed bands of even-even Er andYb nuclei are studied in the framework of an analogous version of the simplemodel of backbending previously given by D. Bonatsos. In the present study,the simple model is reformulated in terms of the nuclear softness model for theground state band and the rotational model for the superband. Furthermore, theconstrained-Hartree-Bogolyubov treatment of the pairing-plus-quadrupole modelhas been utilized to discuss the dependence of the backbending phenomena onthe pairing interactions of both neutron and proton
