摘要

The present paper reports the synthesis, characterization, ion-exchange properties and coordination aspects of the title polymer ligand with isolation and physico-chemical characterization of new polymeric chelates. The polymeric ligand was prepared by polycondensation of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxyacetophenone with ethylene glycol. This newly synthesized polymeric ligand has been characterized by elemental analysis, average molecular weight determination, viscosity and TGA studies. A range of polymeric chelates with a ML2ntype general formula has been prepared with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Mn(II) and Zn(II) metal ions. Physicochemical characterizations have been made from diffuse reflectance and vibrational spectra, eleerrtal analyses, magnetic measurements a t room temperature and by TGA studies. tetrahedral geometries, respectively, for We suggest square planar and Cu(II) and polychelates, whereas octahedra geometry is suggested for IU(If), Co(II) and Mn(II) chelates. IR spectra show that the bidentate ligand coordinates through the oxygen atom of the carbonyl group and the oxygen atom of the phenolic group with replacement of hydrogen by metal ions. Chelation ion-exchange has a l s o been studied employing the batch equilibration ethod. The order of metal selectivity i s U02(II) Cu(II) Fe(II1) Ni(I1).
