This paper proposes a 3D/2D hybrid video coding technique, which utilizes 3-D DCT and a multi-parameter motion compensation with the scaling, rotation, and translation parameters. This technique applies 2-D coding scheme for the rest of areas which are not encoded with 3-D DCT. In order to improve the 2-D coding efficiency, these areas are encoded with 2-D DCT whose size is adapted to the target area. We have confirmed from the result of coding experiments that the proposed technique is superior to a conventional 3-D and MPEG techniques.
