The article provides an overview of evolution of 2nd and 3rd Generation Mobile network based services. This article will outline the services, service enablers and concentrates on services for mobile communications and especially on 3G network environments. General applications discussed are: Group Communications, Value-added services, E-commerce, Location, Vertical applications and advertising. Moreover, Video on demand, high-speed multimedia and mobile Internet access are just a few of the possibilities for users. 3G services expand the possibilities of content rich information and communication. 3G networks will dramatically accelerate the creation, development, and delivery of Multi Media based VAS content across converged networks. It will facilitate the rapid take up of multimedia services including audio, video streaming, gaming, location and presence based services by end customers and generate additional revenues for operators. However, the main benefit of 3G systems is that they will offer substantially enhanced capacity, quality and data rates above those that are available currently with 2G.
