摘要

Development of a sophisticated water delivery system by the Central Irrigation Trust (CIT), in South Australia's Riverland, is seen as a natural response to serve irrigated industries that are very much aware of crop water demands. These demands, which are influenced by growth stage, crop load, soil moisture status, rainfall, temperature, evapotranspiration and even the weather forecast, are increasingly being quantified by producers. Chief executive of CIT, Gavin MacMahon, says RQD has enabled eachirrigated industry to be more attuned to crop factors, knowing how much water is to be applied, and when.
