The 2007 harvest season is just a few months away and so it is time to ensure both new and trusted vineyard machinery is in top condition to ensure maximum productivity during vintage. Look at having equipment serviced now while any problems of this year's vintage are still fresh in the mind. Grape harvesters tend to shake themselves to pieces in the process of shaking the berries from the vines. Ben Brusnahan, manager of Ledgard Pruning Systems based in South Australia's McLaren Vale, says a check over the main chassis, picking head and picking posts of grape harvesters for cracks in welds and tubes is a must to ensure the machine is structurally sound.
