Population Growth of Rhyzopertha Dominica in Different Cereals and Pulses

During storage, various biotic and abiotic factors are responsible in deterioration of physical and chemical quality of the food grains and amongst biotic factors, insects have their important place. Among the several storage insect pests, Rhyzoperthadominica (Fabricius) is one of the most destructive pests of various food grains under storage in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. The weight loss in wheat by the feeding of grub and adult stages of R.dominica was reported to be 5 and 149mg/kg, respectively (Hagstrum and Subramanyam, 2006).
