Susceptibility of Round Gourd Varieties Against 0acfrocera cucurbitae

Round gourd (Citrullus vulgaris var.fistulosus) is a profitable vegetable, cultivated widely in semi-arid region of Rajasthan. Among the various insect pests responsible for lowering the yield of round gourd and other cucurbits, the fruit fly, Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett) is a highly destructive pest causing serious damage (Kushwaha et al, 1973 and Pareek and Bhargava, 2003). The spray of conventional insecticides is the only practical method to control this pest, but their indiscriminate and injudicious use has created problems like insecticidal resistance and environmental pollution. Keeping these points in view, the present study was undertaken to identify the resistant varieties, which is an ideal component of integrated pest management.
