The global economic crisis prevailing since the end of last year has signifi-cantly affected the broadcast field just like other business arenas. This won't stop the global trend toward high-definition (HD) and digital technologies. However, the crisis may be creating subtle differences from one country to the next in the pace of digital and HD promotion.While activities related to the installation of key broadcasting equipment continue, the global economic downturn is becoming a major factor preventing the installation of equipment necessary for eventual full-fledged penetration of HD and digital broadcasting.
