The study was conducted at Kokowal-Majari-Jhunewal watershed located in district Hoshiarpur to find out peak runoff rate and sediment yield relationships with rainfall and runoff characteristics in the Shivaliks. Rainfall characteristics recorded weredepth, duration and maximum 15- minutes intensity. Estimating peak runoff rate as a function of rainfall depth and maximum 15- minutes intensity, the linear function performed better than the exponential and power functions. The R2 varied from 0.27 to 0.98 through the linear function. Of the evaluated functions, power function performed better than the linear and exponential functions in estimating peak runoff rate as a function of product of rainfall depth and maximum 15-minutes intensity. The valuesof R~2 varied from 0.23 to 0.94 in estimating peak runoff rate in different years. In estimating the sediment yield as a function of peak runoff rate and runoff volume, the power function performed better than linear and exponential functions in different years. The R~2 values were 0.88, 0.99 and 0.99 for the year 2003, 2002 and 2001, respectively in power functions
