The fern Hypodematium crenatum (Forssk.) Kuhn ssp. loyalii Fras.-Jenk. & Khullar is a new record for the state of Punjab. Hypodematium (Forssk.) Kunze represents a small group of ferns. Some 12 species are known for this genus, centered in China, though several of these are of doubtful status. One species has been reported from India, divided into three subspecies. Earlier studies reported 31 species of pteridophytes from the modern State of Punjab (Khullar, 1994 & 2000; Sharma et al., 2006a and 2006b). During the course of plant explorations the authors collected this species from Dunera and Katori Bangla, District Gurdaspur, Punjab (Figure 1). A review of literature showed that this is a new record for the state of Punjab. The specimens collectedfrom Dunera and Katori Bangla has been deposited in the herbarium of Botanical Survey of India (BSD) and Punjabi University, Patiala (PUN) respectively.
