Walk behind self-propelled type of reaper is an efficient machine for harvesting crops like paddy, wheat, oat, barley etc. In the Bundelkhand region, it was introduced in the farmer's field for harvesting of wheat and oat. Performance of this machinewas studied along with other related issues. It was found that the harvesting of crop with this machine was completed efficiently, resulting in saving of costs and time of operation. A farmer could save Rs.709 in harvesting one ha area using this reaper.The costs involved in operation of machine include the cost of harvesting of crop and stacking it at the threshing yard in the 100 m vicinity of cutting field. Also there was a time saving of 5.75 days when one person operated the machine and three persons staked the cut crop at one place as compared to the same four persons when used for manually cutting the crop and stacking at one place.
