NON - GENETIC FACTORS AFFECTING ANNUAL WOOL YIELD IN GERMAN ANGORA RABBIT

An attempt has been made to analyze the effects of various non-genetic actors on wool yield in German angora rabbits maintained under the agro-climatic conditions of Sikkim. Among the non-genetic factors, year and season of birth were a significant source of variation for the wool yield. German Angora rabbits are mainly reared for producing finest quality of wool, which can be blended with other fabrics for manufacturing various luxury garments. The wool production of Angora rabbit is affected by anumber of factors where rabbits are kept. The wool yield varies according to breed, age, sex, feeding strategy, and other factors like humidity and temperature. The in-depth information on non-genetic factors influencing wool production in Angora rabbitin India is meager. In the present study an attempt has been made to analyze the effects of various non-genetic actors on wool yield in German angora rabbits maintained under the agro-climatic conditions of Sikkim.
